Tamarina Golf & Spa Boutique
Tamarina Golf & Spa Boutique
4-star resort overlooking Tamarin Bay, on the west coast of Mauritius: 18-hole golf course, L'Acacia spa, beach and water activities at the foot of Rempart Mountain.
The Tamarina Golf & Spa Boutique Hotel occupies the west coast of Mauritius, facing the Tamarin Bay and framed by the Rempart Mountain. This 4-star hotel combines direct access to the lagoon, an 18-hole golf course and spa, across an extensive estate backed by the sea.
Why choose Tamarina
- Dual location: Tamarin Bay beach and mountainous hinterland on the Rempart side
- Championship golf course designed by architect Rodney Wright, integrated into the estate
- Three distinct restaurants offering international cuisine, beach dining and clubhouse
- L'Acacia Spa with holistic treatments using natural and organic products
- Drier, sheltered west coast conducive to swimming and water activities much of the year
Spirit of the place
The property cultivates an intimate, modestly-scaled resort atmosphere, more understated than the sprawling complexes along the coast. Spaces open generously outward, with wood, raffia and rattan dominating the common areas and guest rooms. African-inspired décor, present throughout the beachfront units, gives the place a distinct identity beyond the typical beach resort codes of the island.
The rhythm of your stay unfolds between the beach, the golf course and the estate's trails. As day winds down, Ti Baz, the hotel's beach bar, organizes weekly beach campfires on the sand.
The rooms
The hotel offers three categories of Deluxe rooms, all spacious and well-appointed (satellite TV, air conditioning, minibar, safe, internet connection, telephone):
- 30 Deluxe garden view rooms: warm tones, natural materials, welcoming ambiance
- 12 Deluxe sea view rooms: orange and ochre tones, wooden furniture, raffia and rattan, calmer atmosphere
- 8 Deluxe beachfront rooms: African-inspired décor, more enveloping ambiance, direct beach access
Dining, spa and golf
Three restaurants
- L'Escale: main restaurant. Breakfast buffet, Italian cuisine at lunch, themed evenings and local specialties at dinner.
- Laplaz: beach restaurant. Salads and sandwiches by day, seafood dishes in the evening.
- Le Dix-Neuf: clubhouse at the golf course entrance, popular after rounds, views over Rempart Mountain.
Two bars round out the dining offering: the Baboon Bar (main bar) and Ti Baz on the beach.
L'Acacia Spa
The spa features 4 single treatment cabins, 2 double cabins and a ritual bath. The menu emphasizes holistic treatments using natural and organic products, focusing on wellness rather than pure aesthetics.
18-hole golf
The 18-hole championship course, designed by Rodney Wright, stretches between Tamarin Bay and Rempart Mountain. Driving range, changing rooms, pro shop and bar-restaurant complete the facilities. The course welcomes both hotel guests and external green fee players.
Activities
On land: tennis, paddle tennis, mountain biking, fishing, yoga and fitness. On water: kayaking, windsurfing, catamaran excursions, dolphin-watching outings and scuba diving. The estate also lends itself to quad, buggy or Segway outings, with some routes allowing visitors to encounter introduced wildlife (ostriches, zebras) on neighboring lands.
When to visit
The west coast is the driest part of the island. May to November brings milder weather and stable conditions for golf and beach activities. The warm season (December to April) remains accessible but more humid, with occasional showers. Tamarin Lagoon is navigable year-round.
Location and surroundings
The hotel sits about ten minutes' drive from Tamarin village, where shops and restaurants cluster. It's roughly a quarter hour to Quatre Bornes, and nearly an hour from Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.
Several sites nearby merit a half-day: Tamarin Bay for offshore dolphin watching, the UNESCO-listed Morne Peninsula to the south, Black River Gorges Nature Park for hiking, and the colored earth lands of Chamarel. The west coast hosts most of the island's water-based outings.
Explore further
Other addresses on the west and southwest coast can complement or replace this choice depending on your stay profile: Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa at the foot of Morne for a more expansive resort format, Héritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort in Bel Ombre for a wellness focus, or Exil Lodges for a more intimate approach.
